Product: OMEN 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-b0000 (472J1AV)

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

My laptop usb c is suddenly stop working . When I check the device manager, i can see an exclamation mark on USB CONNECTOR MANAGERS>UCM-UCSI ACPI Device. The usbc port was working fine until today.

This is the report from Event Manager:

Device ACPI\USBC000\0 had a problem starting.

Driver Name: UcmUcsiAcpiClient.inf
Class Guid: {e6f1aa1c-7f3b-4473-b2e8-c97d8ac71d53}
Service: UcmUcsiAcpiClient
Lower Filters:
Upper Filters:
Problem: 0x0
Problem Status: 0xC00000E5

The status is Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). And my system Firmware is F41

I tried to update driver via windows update, uninstall device, restart, load default bios setting, update graphic drivers, update all drivers that are available on HP website for my laptop. I haven't tried to downgrade bios/firmware because i couldn't found any BIOS/FIRMWARE installation for my laptop on HP Website.'

is there anyway to solve this problem?

Kind Regards

I have contacted the HP support service via whatsapp. Even though they provide excellent support service, it didn't solve my problem. They suggested me to go to the nearest HP Service center, because they thought it was a hardware problem.

So, before I took my laptop to the service center, I tried to fix it myself. I tried all the solutions on google, tried to fiddle with the windows drivers, but none of them worked.

However, I found an oddity in Device Event Properties, in one of the sections in events, there is a section that states if the driver is migrated which increases my suspicion if the problem is with the driver.

In the end I decided to do a clean windows 11 install and reinstall all the drivers and apps. Now everything is working again. And it has answered my question. Problem solved!

I think Windows 11 upgrade from 21H2 to 22H2 will break the drivers because the upgrade prioritizes driver migration rather than installing/updating drivers.

It's a strange experience for me, because my problem appeared a WEEK after I upgraded to 22H2, and during those 7 days I didn't find any problem with USB-c, I used that port every day.

I hope my experience can help.

There are many answers on the net about that issue. I had it yesterday. HP Support updated my bios, all the drivers, asked me to shut down the laptop, press the power button for more than 60 seconds - but nothing helped. I still had this error 43 and no access to the USB-C port. After watching a related YT-Video, where it was recommended to take off the battery for a couple of minutes, I thought it might be worth to let the laptop run off power as I couldn't take away the battery. And, miracle, the error disappeared once my laptop shut down because of low battery status and I set back the power.

I found a solution that worked for me and several others. I wasn't looking forward to a reinstall and the hassle and non-productive time it would take. I had downloaded drivers, reinstalled drivers, all the things suggested on several web sites. As a last minute effort I searched the problem again and found a site I hadn't been to. The person that posted simply let his laptop run down until it shut off then plugged it back in. I didn't see the sense in not trying one more thing. It worked exactly as he said it did. I have an Alienware with a USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports. Neither would work. I was running 3 monitors. Internal laptop screen, 1 monitor plugged in to the HDMI port and a USB-C to HDMI adapter for the 3rd monitor (which worked the same on the USB-C or TB-4 port.) What I was using the ports for had nothing to do with them working or not working.

I hope this helps someone else dealing with a similar problem.
