History

The Garrison logo represents the unit's establishment as a brigade-level garrison with a large geographic area. Each element of the crest was carefully selected to illustrate this new beginning and the partnership between the American and German communities in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. The Army star is centered at the top of the crest. The German and American flags are situated on one level representing two nations standing side by side in mutual support. The state crest of Rheinland-Pfalz is at the bottom representing the garrison's geographic area of responsibility and surround by a laurel wreath symbolizing peace and unity. At the center of the crest is the Installation Management Command patch, bringing everyone together and anchoring our community into one unified whole.

Directions

Most Soldiers and Families arriving in Germany on Permanent Change of Station orders will fly into the Ramstein Army Reception Center via Air Mobility Command's Military chartered airlift "The Patriot Express". Flights depart from the Baltimore/Washington International Airport AMC Terminal and arrive at Ramstein Air Base, Germany. The RARC staff will be available to guide all newly arrived personnel and accompanying Family Members through the reception process.

Upon arrival, Soldiers with orders to the Kaiserslautern Military Community will be picked up by their Sponsors or a unit representative. Most Soldiers and their Family Members with orders to other communities will take the a designated bus to their final destination. KMC Soldiers authorized to live off base and Soldiers with Family Members are then taken to TLA lodging. Unaccompanied enlisted Soldiers in the ranks of PVT through SSG are brought to the barracks, or to ‘transient’ quarters.

If you arescheduled to fly into Frankfurt International Airport instead of Ramstein Air Base, contact your travel office immediately to change your flight to a Patriot Express flight, unless an Exception to Policy has been authorized. Not only is it a United States Army Europe policy that Soldiers do not fly into FRA during a permanent change of station move, but there is no support nor oversight at FRA to track your arrival. If you are have an ETP and must fly into FRA, please ensure your sponsor is notified of your itinerary and pickup is arranged. Personnel arriving through an FRA flight or by motor vehicle must report to the appropriate Military Personnel Division on the next business day to obtain in-processing instructions.
