Readings:

“Merry Christmas” Today, the gree ng “Merry Christmas” is on our lips and in our hearts. What does this simple gree ng mean? We know, of course, that for many people, things are not merry today, and that for all of us, there are certain things that cause us anxiety and sadness. There is evil in the world and in our lives. But “Merry Christmas” does not mean that we always feel happy, nor does it mean that everything is going our way. What it means instead is that even if everything else is falling apart, we always have access to God. Christ has come to sacrifice Himself so His precious blood will defeat certain damna on and instead make salva on available to those who love God and keep His commandments. “Merry Christmas” means that even in the midst of sadness God never withdraws this gi of His saving Body and Blood. We simply need to take hold of this mystery and be Faithful to God. He is with us always, and that brings a peace and joy that the world can neither give nor take away.

Merry Christmas!

BE PATRONS OF OUR ADVERTISERS ON THE BACK OF THE BULLETIN. THEIR ADS PROVIDE OUR HYMNALS IN THE PEWS.

Twas the Mass before Christmas Twas the Mass before Christmas, when all through God’s house Many souls were stirring, even me and my spouse. The altar boys and deacon prepped with care, in hopes that our priest soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in the pews, while parents all hoped their silence they’d not lose. Finely dressed were we, in no dungarees, as we settled our souls for this most sacred liturgy. When up on the altar there arose such a clatter, I regained my focus to see what was the matter. Away from the missalette my eyes flew like a flash, to the altar I looked during this holy Mass. Altar candles all lit casting a sacred glow, gave a saintly luster to the servers below. When what to my wondering eyes did appear, but the elevated Eucharist and it was quite clear. A host made of wheat bread, little in size, faith told me was more – it was Jesus Christ. The bells announced His presence as the Eucharist came, we gazed upon this miracle and I thought of His names. Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, the Beloved Son, Lamb of God, Messiah, He is the Anointed One.

His passion and resurrection has saved us all, slavery to sin has been dashed away, dashed away all. As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, when they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. So did my thoughts up to the heavens they flew, with thanks be to Christ for saving me and you. And then, in a twinkling, I heard in the aisle the steps of the ushers who’d been waiting a while. As I gathered my head and was turning around, ushers down the aisle, came with a bound.

On the carpet they walked, reverently upon in order to begin our Holy Communion. The ciborium was filled with miracles galore, filled with the hosts, that are our Christ Lord. Our eyes how they twinkled as we received this Sacrament, then kneeled in our pews so thankful – Christ was sent. This Mass before Christmas, a thanksgiving we prayed, as we looked forward to celebrating our savior’s birthday. Our priest then stood up he was a jolly old man, Friendly and loving, good to see him again. He looked at us in this little parish, then the Spirit compelled him: “Give a Christmas wish!” This wise old priest had a smile full of teeth, with smoke from incense encircling his head like a wreath. With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head he reminded us Christ removed any reason to dread. He sprang to the aisle to his deacon gave whistle, and all were sent forth leaving the missals. To the world we went out to bring Christ’s light, nourished by Christ, against evil we fight. We got in our cars and began to drive away, as our priest the Monsignor gave us a wave. But I heard him exclaim, as we drove out of sight, "MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!"
